We won the Young Pioneers Award at the Herald Global Game Changers Awards 2018!

2050 Climate Group is delighted to announce that our youth-run charity has won the Young Pioneers Award at this year’s The Herald Global Game Changers in partnership with Innovators Magazine.

The Young Pioneers Award, sponsored by ScottishPower, recognises "any person or group of individuals (aged 18-25 years old) who are shaking things up...having an impact...and changing how things are done."

Since 2014, our team have been working to engage, educate and empower Scotland’s young people to take action on climate change. We want to equip Scotland’s young people with climate change knowledge and leadership skills, so that our generation can lead the way to a sustainable, low carbon society by the year 2050. We run the Young Leaders Development Programme and all of our young leaders, alumni, operational volunteers and board members pioneer climate change awareness and action in their personal, professional and political lives.The third Young Leader’s Development Programme (YLDP) is running until 2019, with plans to continue further years of the YLDP after that. All participants of the YLDP go on to join the growing ‘Leaders Network’: an alumni association designed to maintain momentum and encourage on-going education and action through events, workshops and professional development training. There is also a 2050 Climate Group Policy team who manage and coordinate policy engagement on behalf of the group. They facilitate young people to have a voice in relevant political agendas and have coordinated responses to Scottish Government consultations.Whilst working to achieve a low-carbon and climate resilient Scotland, the group also want to help be part of the solution across the world. A new pilot project has been developed, the  Malawi Climate Leaders project, which is delivered in partnership between the 2050 Climate Group and the Malawi Scotland Partnership, and aims to build a network of young leaders for climate change action in Malawi. This relates to the organisation’s aims and aspirations as it will work to educate, engage and empower the next generation of leaders to lead climate action, and is the first step to do this outside of Scotland.
